Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointment of Mrs Victoria Adunola Samson, popularly known as Mama BOVAS, as the new Chancellor of Osun State University, Osogbo.
Integrity, hard work, and visionary leadership are the bedrock of enduring institutions. Appointing individuals who have built successful enterprises with honesty and excellence into positions of academic stewardship reinforces our commitment to producing not just graduates, but responsible future leaders.

The appointment follows the conclusion of the tenure of the immediate past Chancellor, Apostle Folorunso Alakija, who served the institution meritoriously for 10 years (2016–2026). The Osun State Government had earlier paid a thank-you visit to Apostle Alakija in recognition of her immense contributions, especially the donation of the multi-billion naira Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital.

Mrs Victoria Adunola Samson, an Iree indigene from Boripe Local Government, is the founder of BOVAS Oil and Gas Company. She transformed the company from a single station into a major player with over 200 retail outlets and more than 2,000 direct employees. A trailblazer in the petroleum industry, she was the first Nigerian to win the prestigious Texaco Latin America and West Africa (LAWA) Best Overall Dealer Award in 1990.
Governor Adeleke described Mrs Samson as a symbol of integrity, honesty, and excellence, praising her business ethics and commitment to nation-building.
“ We celebrate you and use you to represent a symbol of decency, honesty, integrity and humanity in our society,” the Governor stated.
Mrs Samson becomes the third Chancellor of the Osun State University.
